Egypt beat Morocco 30-19 to reach World Championship main round

Ahram - Egypt eased past Morocco 30-19 in an all-African derby to reach the World Championship main round with one match to spare in Group G on Sunday. The Pharaohs recovered from a slow start to overwhelm the Moroccans, with a series of fine saves from keeper Mohamed Ali and some efficient fast breaks giving them the edge early on.

They led 13-9 at the break and fired on all cylinders in the second to increase the gap to 11 goals at the end. Keeper Abdel-Rahman Homayed, who replaced Ali, was named man of the match after producing a total of 14 saves in the second half.

Egypt, who now have four points on top of Group G, maintained an impressive start that saw them kick off their campaign with a 31-22 win over one-time winners Croatia on Friday.

They will be looking to secure top spot in the group when they face the United States in their last preliminary round match on Tuesday.
