Egyptian pop star Amr Diab will perform a concert in Russia during the 2018 FIFA World Cup in June to celebrate Egypt’s participation after more than 27 years of absence, a source close to Diab’s management said. The source confirmed to Sayidaty magazine that the celebration will be full of big surprises for the Egyptian audience, especially since it will be presented within a “complete services package” for football fans who wish to cheer for the Egyptian team during the World Cup. The trip will also feature many other Egyptian stars.
Diab is finalizing the celebration’s details with contributing companies, provided it is announced and advertised as part of a comprehensive marketing plan that not only covers Diab’s concert, but also extends to announcing special tourism offers including reduced prices for airline tickets, accommodations that include internal transportation, and tickets for attending Egypt’s games, according to the same source.
These trips will start in June 2018, which coincides with the last few days of the month of Ramadan. Ticket sales are expected to start early in 2018 to ensure all seats are booked. Diab, born in 1961 in Port Said, has risen to fame over the past two decades in the Arab world. His album “Nour el-Ain” (Our Eyes Beam) brought him global success and earned him the title of “The Father of Mediterranean Music” for his style of blending Egyptian and western rhythms.
Diab received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Big Apple Music Awards in 2009. At the 2014 World Music Awards, Diab was also awarded Best Egyptian Artist, Best Male Arab Artist, and World’s Best Arab Male Artist Voted Online.
