Following Iran's attack on Israel, American and British sanctions come into action on Iran

Egypt Daily News - Both America and Britain imposed sanctions on Iranian companies involved in the production of drones after Tehran's attack on Israel. On Thursday, the United States announced the imposition of new sanctions on Iran targeting its production of drones after its attack on Israel with drones and missiles at the weekend.

The US Treasury Department said in a statement that the sanctions target 16 individuals and two entities who enabled Iran to produce drones and manufacture types of engines that operate the Iranian drones that Tehran used in the April 13 attack on Israel.

An official statement showed that Britain included 13 new entities on its sanctions against Iran on Thursday. British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said that the G7 countries are working on a package of coordinated measures against Iran.

Saturday's Iranian attack was the first time Tehran launched a direct military attack on Israel.

The Israeli authorities said that Iran launched more than 300 drones and missiles, 99% of which were intercepted by air defenses in cooperation with the United States, Britain, France and Jordan.

The attack occurred less than two weeks after a suspected Israeli raid in Syria that resulted in the killing of two Iranian generals in the Iranian consulate building in Damascus.
