Egypt Today - Scorpions stung Saturday 425 citizens - killing three - living near the mountainous areas of Aswan as thundershowers hit the governorate pushing them to leave their nests, as reported by Al Ahram.

Dr. Ehab Hanafy, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Aswan told press that 89 cases are receiving treatment in Aswan University Hospital, 118 others are in Kom Ombo Central Hospital, while the rest are in the hospitals of Drau, Nasr al-Nuba, Edfu, and Abou Simbel, according to Al Arabiyah Misr.

Professor at Agricultural Research Center Ahmed Rizk explained to Al Watan newspaper that heavy rains wash away scorpions and snakes, which later seek to hide so they head to people's houses, particularly the high parts.

Rizk noted that that people have to get away from mountainous areas when showers occur. He added that if stung, they have to tie a piece of cloth firmly near the bite to inhibit the venom from reaching the heart, and seek the hospital immediately to get the cure.
