The US Navy reveals the cost of thwarting Houthi attacks on ships

EgyptDailyNews - US Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro announced on Tuesday that $1 billion had been spent on thwarting Houthi attacks on ships over the past six months.

Del Toro added, during a session of the US Senate Appropriations Committee, that US Navy forces thwarted more than 130 attacks on US military and commercial ships in the Middle East.

He urged representatives to approve a financial package to renew the munitions, and said, “The munitions are very important for the navy to confront these attacks, and we currently have nearly a billion dollars in munitions that we need to renew. Therefore, the amount of more than $2 billion stipulated in the annex "The additional supply is critical to our Navy so that we can replenish that munitions and continue to provide the types of defensive actions that we have done over the past six and a half months."

It is noteworthy to mention that the Houthi group in Yemen, supported by Iran, launched attacks on ships in the Red Sea, which it said were a response to Israel because of its military campaign in Gaza.
