98% occupancy rates in Red Sea hotels despite tensions in the region

EgyptDailyNews- Occupancy rates at Red Sea hotels in Egypt increased during the Eid El-Fitr holiday to exceed 98% and the volume of reservations from foreign tourists arriving from Europe increased significantly, taking advantage of the decline of the Egyptian pound against the dollar following the liberalization of the exchange rate. Egypt received 14.9 million tourists for the first time in its history during the year 2023, and the demand for the Egyptian tourist destination continued to grow, with the number of tourists increasing by 6% during the first fifty days of the current year, according to official statements by the Minister of Tourism, Ahmed Issa.

Egypt's tourism revenues increased by 6.1% to record $7.8 billion during the period from July to December 2023, and the number of tourist nights increased by the same rate to reach 83.2 million nights, and the number of arriving tourists during this period reached 7.8 million tourists at an average rate Growth of 14.7%.

Egypt aims to attract 30 million tourists by 2028, and to do so, it seeks to increase the number of airline seats coming to Egypt, improve the tourist experience, raise the quality of services provided, and improve the investment climate to increase hotel capacity.

The European Safety and Security Authority (Eurocontrol) praised the efficiency of air traffic in Egyptian airspace after the airspace of some neighboring countries was closed, which led to an increase in operating rates and the number of aircraft.
